THE CONSULTATIVE MEETING BETWEEN THE MINISTRIES OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF MONGOLIA AND THE NETHERLANDS IS HELD
The 2nd Consultative meeting between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands has successfully been held in Ulaanbaatar on Wednesday, 11 May 2016. The Consultative meeting was co-chaired by Mr. D.Gankhuyag, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, while Mr. Peter Potman, Director of Department for Asia and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands led the Dutch delegation. The two sides briefed each other with the domestic political, social and economic situation and exchanged views on multilateral and regional cooperation issues, while concentrating on current state of bilateral relations, overall economic affairs such as trade and investment and defined the way forward. Both sides reiterated their aspiration to strengthen the current relations, and in order to foster trade turnover and investment, decided to encourage cooperation in agricultural field based on adequately accumulated resources and expertise of the two countries.
Furthermore, two sides discussed the possibilities of enhancing people-to-people realtions by developing educational and cultural exchanges, and determined to focus on certain subjects.
The Netherlands has been one of the Western European countries to support Mongolia’s social and economic transition at its earliest stage and actively conducted development cooperation from 1990 until 2011 by implementing projects in the areas of environmental protection and sustainable tourism in Mongolia. One of these has become the re-introduction of Przewalski horses to Hustai National Park, which were endangered of total extinction in the world. Next year will mark the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Netherlands.
