FIRST CONSULTATIVE MEETING BETWEEN THE MINISTRIES OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF MONGOLIA AND KUWAIT HELD IN ULAANBAATAR
The First Political Consultative Meeting between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the State of Kuwait was successfully held on April 22, 2019, in Ulaanbaatar. The meeting co-chaired by Mr. D. Davaasuren, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and by Ambassador Ali Suleiman Al Saeed, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait.
During the meeting, two sides emphasized that the countries have successfully overcame the challenges and maintained the friendly relations due to sincere aspiration and friendship of the people of the two countries and noted the importance of energizing the cooperation in the field of economy and investment, especially by increasing the collaboration between our private sectors. Moreover, two sides expressed the willingness to utilize the cooperation potentials in the field of agriculture and tourism. Mongolia is studying possibility to export meat to the Middle Eastern countries. Kuwaiti side pledged to work on sending a delegation for “Exporting Mongolian meat to the Middle Eastern region” business forum to be held in Ulaanbaatar, with the support of the Asian Development Bank.
Mongolia is the favorite touristic destination for citizens of Kuwait and other Gulf countries. On this note, two sides agreed to finalize the “Agreement on Cooperation in the field of tourism between the Governments” in near future.
Two sides agreed to develop cooperation in the fields of mining, infrastructure, culture and education. Also the establishment of connection between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of two countries has been agreed too.
The parties also touched upon maintaining the exchange of high level visits and holding the next Intergovernmental Commission meeting between Mongolia and Kuwait and discussed about current political, economic and social situation in both countries, regional and international issues of mutual interests.
Two countries have a rich experience in cooperating within UN and other international organizations. During the meeting, the parties expressed their willingness to strengthen the cooperation in this area.
Year of 2020 marks the 45th anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the State of Kuwait. Kuwaiti Government extended 78 million USD soft loan and 17.5 million USD grant to Mongolia. We have utilized the Kuwaiti soft loan for the construction 415 km long paved road connecting Darkhan – Erdenet – Bulgan – Unit, Taishir Hydrowpower plant and the grant for the construction of National Burn Center, Mongolia – Kuwait Research Center and other projects.
