Minister for Foreign Affairs N.Enkhtaivan received today Ambassador of Japan to Mongolia H.Kobayashi. Ambassador H.Kobayashi extent congratulations to N.Enkhtaivan on his appointment as Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and wished him every success.

Minister Enkhtaivan expressed his gratitude for the congratulatory letter of Japanese Foreign Minister T.Motegi and highlighted his commitment to further strengthen Strategic Partnership between Mongolia and Japan and intensify economic, trade and investment cooperation.

Ambassador Kobayashi emphasized the importance of close engagement between the two countries in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, and informed that the Government of Japan has been working to support Mongolia through bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including provision of the COVID Emergency Loan. While expressing gratitude for this support, Minister Enkhtaivan asked for its granting in near future due to the difficult economic situation caused by COVID-19. He also proposed to establish a model facility to introduce Japanese investment and advanced technology in support of Mongolian export.

Both sides agreed to exchange views on a Mid-term Action Plan for the development of Mongolia – Japan relations for the next four years and to ensure early preparations for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations to be commemorated in 2022.
